Recent Posts Slider
The slider feature is optional and the theme will still look great should you choose not to use it.
The tutorial below is for the plugin ‘Genesis Responsive Slider’ but you are welcome to use any slider plugin that suits your needs.
How The Slider Works
An image will not appear in the slideshow unless a featured image is selected. By default, the slider displays the featured image of each blog post. Alternatively, you can just display the featured image of a couple of pages or posts like the demo’s slider.
Image Size* The theme’s slider is full width and as such, it looks best if you use high-res imagery. I recommend 1400 px wide. (With web images it’s about finding the balance between image quality and site speed.)
Set Up Your Slider
1) If you haven’t already, please install the plugin Genesis Responsive Slider plugin and drag the “Genesis – Responsive Slider” widget to the “Slider” widget area.
2) Then, on your WordPress dashboard, go to the Slider settings.
Navigate to “Genesis” > “Slider Settings”
To recreate the demo’s slider, configure the settings like the screenshot below.
There are heaps of features with this plugin – maximum dimensions of your slideshow, allows you to choose to display posts or pages, what category to pull from, and even the specific post IDs of the posts you want to display. It includes next/previous arrows and a pager along with the option to turn both on or off. The slideshow is also responsive and will automatically adjust for the screen it is being displayed on. For more information, please see the publisher’s own documentation
Home Page CTAs Widget
The home page Call To Action links are the following clickable boxes and buttons:
1) Add 3 ‘Featured Page’ widgets to this area.
2) Set up each of the 3 featured widgets as the image shows below:
The first widget will display the left box, the second widget will display the middle box, and the third widget will display the right link box.
Make sure you have set the featured image you’d like to display for that page.
To do this; navigate to “Pages” > select the page title and upload a featured image for that page. Save.
Footer 1 Widget & Footer 2 Widget
The demo uses a navigation menu widget in both these areas.
The demo uses an image widget in this area.
This widget displays your newsletter opt-in form. You will need to have the Genesis eNews plugin installed.
In the newsletter widget space, add the ‘Genesis eNews widget’ and set it up following the steps in this post.
Footer Social Icons Widget
Install the Simple Social icons plugin, add it to the third footer widget, and enter your social links.
